Princess Palta (Nirgidma), Princess of the Torghuts, a nomadic people in Central Asia visits the Citroen Central Asian Anthropological Expedition (3rd Mission, led by Haardt) at Ouroumtsi, Chinese Turkestan (now Urumqi (Urumchi), the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China in Northwest China). Georges-Marie Haardt (1884-1932) was a Belgian- born French industrialist and explorer , general manager and vice-president of the Citroen Automobile company and close friend of Andre Citroen. He was named chief of the three Citroen expeditions, first through the Sahara , then Africa (Black Cruise), then Asia (Yellow Cruise). He died in Hong Kong on March 16th, 1932, after a flu, complicated in double pneumonia , contracted during this last expedition (pictured) on the way home.
