George Arliss, one of the first English actors to succeed in Holly-wood, had a great hit as the Indian rajah. The irony of the play?s success is that the play's author Archer, who had spent a professional lifetime advocating Ibsen and other advanced authors, became rich at last from this old-fashioned melodrama.
