Golden Buddha, Bodh Gaya, Mahabodhi Temple, Bihar, India, where Gautama Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment under what became known as the Bodhi Tree. The inscription reads: repaired by the British Government under the order of Sir Ashley Eden, Lieutenant Governor of Bengal, 1880, archaeological adviser Alexander Cunningham, Royal Engineer, architect Joseph Daviditch Melik-Beglar, Civil Engineer.
