Cox's Patent Till, mahogany with brass fittings and enamel plaque. Invented, manufactured and patented by publican John Cox to track payments made and prevent disputes arising over the value of coins tendered by customers. It included a glass backed single side rack for stacking coins, slotted lever operated compartment for viewing coins, was fitted with a bell which rings when lever is operated, above a bowl for small change and a locked drawer for safekeeping of higher value coins.
