Some lovely 1920s cars parked close to the The Saladin Citadel of Cairo on Mokattam hill near the centre of Cairo, Egypt. The El Azab Gate can be seen (centre) as well as the Muhammed Ali Mosque (back left). Muhammad Ali Pasha (1769 - 1849), is regarded as the "founder of modern Egypt". Though not a modern nationalist, he instituted dramatic reforms in the military, economic, and cultural spheres. The dynasty he established would rule Egypt until the Egyptian Revolution of 1952.
