Costume of an emigre.. Costume of an emigre. He wears a hat at a rakish angle, grey redingote, an old-fashioned gilet (waistcoat) and white shirt. He carries a short gourdin (bludgeon). Handcolored etching by Auguste Etienne Guillaumot Jr. from Costumes of the Directory, Rouquette, Paris, 1875. The etchings were made from designs by Eugene Lacoste and Draner after prints of the era 1795-99.
