A scene in a British munitions factory, owned by Vickers Ltd. Shown here is the process of 'nosing' a shell. Metal cylinders are heated in a furnace by the man shown in the foreground. He passes them to the next man along, who puts the glowing end beneath a press which gives the cylinder the conical head on which the percussion or fuse cap is ultimately fixed. Behind the workers may be seen walls of shells.
