The party, on the theme of a Venetian masquerade saw her flood the terrace of her garden at 13 Hyde Park Gardens and erect a miniature Grand Canal. The party is a glorious example of the final golden summer enjoyed by the upper classes and society before the outbreak of war in 1914.
