Lady Diana Manners (1891-1981), British society beauty, actress and wife of Duff Cooper. Later became Lady Duff Cooper, Viscountess Norwich. Pictured in 1915 in a spectacular evening cloak and headdress at the time when she was training to be a nurse at Guy's Hospital. A ubiquitous figure on the smart, social scene and a member of the Coterie (a group of friends and intellectuals, children of the Edwardian era Souls), the headline to this picture remarks that she is a, 'Deserter of the Drawing-Room for War : A Society Nurse.'
