Cannon Street fire station, City of London, opened in 1906. Seen here are crews with motorised and horse-drawn engines. Fire brigade horses were slowly being replaced by motorised fire appliances, but many still remained at London stations. Cannon Street's escape cart and turntable ladder were still horse drawn. However the second pump was an early petrol driven engine. The station was demolished in the 1970s when the replacement Dowgate station was opened.
