Opened on 27 June 1907, Knightsbridge fire station was located at 16 Basil Street. Seen here is the appliance room of the station, showing its motorised fire appliances -- the pump escape (right), and the fire engine (far left) carrying a recruitment advertisement for the Auxiliary Fire Service to bolster the numbers of firefighters in London, and elsewhere in the country, prior to the outbreak of WW2.
