Landscape with Ascanius shooting the Stag of Sylvia. Ascanius, hunting in the Roman countryside, is unaware that his actions will precipitate war between the Trojans and the Latins. The breeze rippling through the tall trees evokes the forces soon to be unleashed on the silver-toned, harmonious landscape.
