Sir Oswald Ernald Mosley, 6th Baronet (1896-1980), British right-wing politician, founder and leader of the British Union of Fascists (BUF). Seen here (left) taking part in a fascist rally, walking along a street and laughing. Two men in the crowd are giving a Nazi-style salute, either seriously or satirically. By this time the wearing of uniforms had been banned by the Public Order Act of 1936. Soon after the Second World War began, Mosley was interned, together with his wife Diana Mitford, and they spent much of the war in a house in the grounds of Holloway Prison, North London.
