The remains of the Sopwith aeroplane 'Atlantic' (picked up in the Mid Atlantic) from the ill-fated attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean by Harry George Hawker and Kenneth Mackenzie Grieve (May 18th - 19th, 1919) - displayed in Selfridge's Roof Garden. The attempt was borne out of a competition run by the Daily Mail, who awarded Hawker and Grieve a consolation prize of ?5000!
