Tsesarevich Alexei of Russia (1904-1918) wearing his first pair of trousers on his third birthday in August 1907. This outfit was advertised in 1909 as a sewing pattern in 'Home Chat' magazine. Alexei was the much longed-for male heir to the Imperial throne but his parents were devastated to discover he suffered from haemophilia. Alexei was shot by Bolsheviks along with his parents and sisters on July 17th 1918 at Ekaterinburg.
