An impression of a typical scene on the road to the racecourse at Dinard. The all-conquering motor has not yet entirely ousted the more elegante horse equipage, and one may still ride or drive to the race meeting in the fashion of a more leisurely generation. Blampied (1886-1966) drew countless illustrations for the ILN magazines. As well as scenes of typical London life for The Illustrated London News, he produced a number of colour pictures for The Bystander featuring the glamorous and privileged classes at fashionable resorts around the world.
