Engraving showing the death of Kalulu, at the Kalulu Falls, during Sir Henry Morton Stanley's Anglo-American expedition of 1874-1877. Stanley's expedition travelled from the East coast to the West coast of Africa, much of the way by canoe along the Congo River. There were many hazards to overcome on the way; hostile natives, disease and uncharted waterfalls and rapids.
