Blue Cranes with half-grown chicks (Anthropoides paradiseus). Mountain Zebra National Park, Eastern Cape, South Africa. endemic and vulnerable; world's most range-restricted crane. Inhabits vleis, grassland, karoo scrub and agricultural lands. Feeds on bulbs, seeds, roots, invertebrates, fish, frogs, reptiles and small mammals. Damages crops, especially maize, wheat and lucerne. Also known as Paradise Cranes.
