Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Women members of the People's Militia. They belong to the Tran Thi Hue unit of the Thanh Hoa province and are 39 women between the ages of 17 and 27. They are holding fountain pens they were presented with for outstanding services. They are tasked with watching over the safety of the village during alarms, rendering first aid to the wounded, supplying fighting units with ammunition, water, cooking food, and if need be, taking the places of wounded or killed soldiers in actual fighting.
