'The Great Equatorial Telescope in the Dome, Greenwich Observatory', (c1878). The 28-inch Greenwich refracting telescope at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, south London. Completed in 1893, it was commissioned in 1885 by Astronomer Royal William Christie. It was built to research double star systems and is the largest of its kind in the UK and the seventh largest in the world.
