'Bermondsey Abbey, 1790', (c1878). Bermondsey Abbey was an English Benedictine monastery in Southwark, London. Thomas Pope (c1507-1559), founder of Trinity College, Oxford, bought the site, demolished the abbey and built a house on the land.
