Farewell to earth. One of the greatest images of the space age, this enhanced-color frame from the Galileo spacecraft show the earth and the moon together in space. The image was made at a range of 6.2 million kilometers from earth on 16 December 1992. The moon is in the foreground, its "far side" toward the spacecraft. The earth is seen with clouds swirling over the Pacific Oceans, with Antarctica at bottom.
