The EURECA satellite seen being berthed in the cargo bay of Shuttle Endeavor after its retrieval from orbit. EURECA, (European Retrievable Carrier), was a reuseable platform for a variety of experiments which require lengthy exposure to microgravity conditions. EURECA-1 was deployed during misstion STS-46 on 8/1/92, and is seen here being retrieved during STS-57 on 6/24/93. The EURECA platform is based on a carbon-fiber and titanium frame.
