Pyrite and iron sulfide. Pyrite (fool's gold) is a lustrous mineral composed of iron disulfide (FeS2, left). Iron sulfide (FeS, in watch glass, right) is a black solid. They have a very different appearance, despite both being composed of iron and sulfur.
