This axial (cross sectional) gradient echo T2 MRI demonstrates multiple areas of intracerebral hemorrhage (black regions) in this person with amyloid angiopathy. Amyloid is a condition secondary to deposition of abnormal protein within the media and adventitia of the cerebral blood vessels leading to fragility and multiple, repeated episodes of intracranial bleeding.
