Thermography in forensic science: false color thermogram of the heat print left by a woman's body, seen one minute after rising. Heat from the woman's body has transferred to the floor, leaving an heat imprint. This illustrates one use of forensic thermography, being able to pinpoint the location of a body or other hot object after it has been removed from the scene of a crime. The thermographic camera detects infrared heat radiation, and converts it into an electrical signal. The image is then presented color coded for temperature. Here the temperatures range from black/blue (coolest) to yellow/white (warmest).
