Xenon (atomic number: 54, symbol: xe) is a colorless, odorless, noble or inert gas. Small amounts can be found in the atmosphere. Xenon gas is used in making electron tubes, stobosopic lamps, bactericidal lamps, photo flash units, and lamps that are used to excite ruby lasers that generate coherent light. Xenon is also used as a general anesthetic.
