Wild and white-eyed fruit flies. Drosophila sp. Many genes can affect Drosophila sp. eye pigments. Some of these cause the absence of the normal brown pigment and appear red (e.g. vermillion). Others lacked bright red pigment, and appeared ruby or brown, while others may lack both pigments, and are devoid of color (e.g. white).
