A hemi-epiphytic fig tree (Ficus sp), the dark trunk of the fig on the left is hosted by a large emergent Tualang tree (Koompassia excelsa) on the right with silvery white bark. The fig tree started life as an epiphytic seedling high on a branch of the Tualang from where its aerial root has grown down to the ground and thickened to become a trunk while its branches have grown up into the canopy of the Tualang. Lowland rainforest, Kledang Hill, Perak, Malaysia.
