The cones formed by the unopened leaves of these ginger plants (Boesenbergia sp.) are used as a daytime roosts by Hardwicke's Woolly bats (Kerivoula hardwickii) in lowland rainforest, Mulu National Park and World Heritage site, Sarawak, Malaysia.
