Sulfur Buckwheat (Eriogonum umbellatum var. majus), Grand Mesa, Colorado. There is disagreement about the species name, but the majority of sources have assigned E. umbellaturm var. majus to this beautiful, montane, subalpine member of the buckwheat genus. The flowers vary from white to cream to yellow to pink. It is found with sagebrush in the lowlands, to exposed alpine ridges, on both rocky and sandy substrates.
