Bark peeling from a eucalyptus tree creates a colorful abstract pattern. The eucalypts are native to Australia, but have been introduced to many other locations, including Hawaii, where this peeling trunk was photographed. Eucalyptus trees are also known as gum trees. They have smooth, thin bark that peels off in patches or layers, as seen here. There are several hundred species of eucalyptus trees.
