Sand stickleaf, Mentzelia strictissima. Also known as grassland's blazingstar. It is native to sandy soils of west TX and NM. The flowers open in late afternoon, closing by morning. The leaves of most species have minute hairs that cause them to stick to clothing. Photo Lea Co.,NM.
