Signe Tillisch, a highly aromatic apple cultivar. According to one source, it originated in 1860 as a random seedling in the garden of Hardesvogts Tillisch in the town of Bjerre, near Horsens, Danemark. Introduced into commerce in 1885. It was named after Hardesvogts' daughter Signe. At the turn of the 20th century, this apple was readily available in Denmark and Northern Germany, but almost disappeared into extinction. Another source says that this apple originated in Sweden and was first described in print in 1889.
