Fruits of the Burrawang, Macrozamia communis, a low cycad common in the understory of eucalypt forest in coastal emperate eastern Australia. Cycads are ancient plants and individuals are slow growing and fire resistant. Seeds were eaten by aboriginals after complex treatment, but are deadly raw and contain a carcinogen.
