Desert willow; Chilopsis linearis. A small tree or large shrub native to dry stream beds from West Tx throughout much of the Southwest into Mexico. It is a member of the trumpet creeper family, family Bignoniaceae, and not related to true willows (Salix spp.). It is much used as a garden shrub in suitable arid regions.Photo Dona Ana Co., NM
