California Pitcherplant (Darlingtonia californica), a carnivorous plant found in coastal Oregon and a few locations in northern California. It is also called the Cobra Lily. It has a downward-facing entry hole and multiple translucent false exits on the upward side. Insects find their way in but then exhaust themselves trying to escape through the false exits. They then fall down the hollow tube where downward-facing hairs prevent any further upward efforts. Eventually the body decomposes at the bottom, providing the plant with important nitrogen supplements.
