The Santa Rosa Island Torrey Pine (Pinus torreyana ssp. insularis). Torrey pines are found in only two localities, near San Diego, and the subspecies, insularis, three hundred miles to the north on Santa Rosa Island. This large grove of possibly 500 trees exists on north facing bluffs at the southeast end of Becher's Bay.
