Canary Island spurge (Euphorbia canariensis) is an example of convergent evolution, whereby unrelated species developing in similar environments evolve into look-alikes. In this case, the spurge looks similar to the senita cactus (Pachycereus schottii) from the Sonoran Desert, like BS1100.
