Light micrograph of sectioned Pacinian corpuscles (three round objects), sensory receptors for touch found in the skin. The corpuscles consist of sensory nerve endings surrounded by capsules of 'onion-skin' membrane layers. These cells are stimulated by changes in pressure which cause mechanical deformation of their membranes.
