Color enhanced scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Candida, which cause many types of infections with many different symptoms. Most common are vulvovaginal infections and thrush in AIDS patients and immunocompromised, (AIDS and transplant), patients. The micrograph here is of vulvovaginal infections. Cultured Candida may be yeast, hyphae or both depending on culture conditions. Here, the Candida appears in yeast form.
