Color enhanced transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of an enterocyte or intestinal absorptive cell, found in the small intestines or colon. Two individuals of cryptosporidium (red and orange), a protozoan pathogen, are present; an early trophozoite and a type 1 meront containing zoites. The human parasite causing gastro-intestinal illness is often seen in AIDS patients. Magnification: x 16,000.
