Color enhancement of TEM of propionibacterium acnes. Anacrobic gram-positive bacili responsible for inflammatory acne. P. acnes blocks the hair folicle and can mulitply rapidly, blocking the flow of oxygen to the scbaccous gland. As the anacrobic bacteria multiplies, inflammation occurs.
