Glaucocystis, a freshwater algae. Each ovoid glaucocystis cell contains two lobed plastids, known as cyanelles. The cyanelles resemble cyanophyta, as if they were endosymbiotic cyanobacteria within colorless chlorophyta algae. The four cells on the left are daughter cells, still within the cell wall of their parent cell. Light micrograph, living, darkfield, magnified 320x at 35 mm size.
