A first edition of Charles Darwin's "Origin of Species" is displayed on his writing board, which rests on a wheeled armchair of his own design in his study at Down House, Kent. The Darwin family moved from their cramped house in London to Down House in 1842. Charles Darwin worked here for 40 years till his death on April 19, 1882. Photograph circa 1932.
