Entitled: "The flies got wise" shows a large spider labeled "Flim Flam Finance" with a disgruntled look on its face, sitting on a cobweb labeled "Wall Street", looking at a bunch of flies labeled "The Public" hovering just beyond the cobweb, mocking the spider. A confidence trick (film flam) is an attempt to defraud a person or group after first gaining their confidence, used in the classical sense of trust. Confidence tricks exploit characteristics of the human psyche such as dishonesty, honesty, vanity, compassion, credulity, irresponsibility, na簿vet矇 and greed. Illustrated by Louis M. Glackens for Puck and published by Keppler & Schwarzmann, January 22, 1913.
