Entitled: "Conspiracy In Russia - A Nihilist Meeting Surprised." Depicting a secret meeting of the Nihilist movement being surprised by a visitor. The Nihilist believed the workers were becoming wage slaves to the wealthy in the beginning of the industrial revolution. The Nihilist movement was a Russian movement in the 1860s which rejected all authorities. After the assassination of Tsar Alexander II in 1881, the Nihilists were known throughout Europe as proponents of the use of violence in order to bring about political change.
