Fashion plate illustration by Barclay. Creation: Martial et Armand; Creation: Jenny; Creation Martial et Armand; Creation: Jean Patou. The Martial et Armand quarters at Place Vendome were among the handsomest in Paris, occupying a palatial residence in which dwelt, at one time, various Ministers of State during the reigns of Louis XIV and XV. Jenny at 70 Avenue des Champs Elys矇es was very well known and popular, Madame Jenny gave personal attention to the designing and her husband was the business manager. This house had a great following both in Paris and with American buyers. Jean Patou was a French fashion designer and founder of the Jean Patou brand. His clothes were marketed mostly to rich American women, but when the stock market crashed so did the market for luxury fashion. The House of Patou survived through its perfumes, which remain well known today.
