A map from the 19th century showing the "comparative magnitude of the Sun seen from each planet." Note that the list of planets includes Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta. These asteroids (in order of discovery) were counted as planets from 1808 until 1845. Ceres was the first asteroid discovered and now is labeled as a dwarf planet, taking up about 1/3 of the entire mass of the asteroid belt.
