Title page from Giulio Casserio's (ca 1552-1616) "De vocis auditisque organis historia anatomica," Ferrara: Vittorio Baldini, 1601 (Part II: 1600). It is unsigned, but the anatomical illustrations are probably by German painter and engraver Joseph Maurer. This was a detailed study of comparative anatomy. Casserio sought to explain human anatomy by comparing each organ to their counterparts in animals. De vocis, to which this is the frontispiece, contains two treatises on the vocal organs and the ear.
